The wait for the new generation of consoles, particularly the PlayStation 5, is reaching fever pitch, and gamers the world over are waiting patiently to get their hands on the new hardware, which takes a massive leap forward in hardware specifications and capability. The PS5 will offer solid state storage for improved load times and it will be backward compatible with almost all existing PS4 games, with many games offering a free upgrade to the PS5 version.

But what games will be available on or shortly after launch to put this new hardware to the test? Cosmospecial brings to you a summary of all the confirmed PS5 games. From cosmo themed, adventure, to first person shooters, we’ve collated it all for you so that all you have to do now is to preorder and wait.

Astro’s Playroom

Astro’s Playroom might not be a game most gamers are looking forward to getting their hands on, but it will be something that most will probably try. It’ll come pre-loaded on the PS5 and is designed to demo the capabilities of the new PS5 controller. It’s no tech demo, however – this is a full game in its own right. It’s a platformer that will have you controlling some cute robots and helping them navigate their way through an expansive game.

Godfall is a highly anticipated title, and it’ll be available to owners of the PS5 on launch day. It comes from Counterplay Games and Gearbox and describes itself as a looter shooter akin to games like Destiny 2. You can play the game single player or in co-op modes with up to 3 players. You’ll fight your way through the four elemental realms of earth, air, fire and water in the never-ending quest to gear yourself to the teeth.

Watchdogs Legion

The third iteration of the Ubisoft Watchdogs series, Legion is another launch title for the PS5. This time you’ll find the game set in the UK in a society where badly affected post-Brexit consequences mean overhead drones and constant monitoring of the inhabitants’ every move. It’s gorgeous to look at and unique in its interaction with NPCS as you and your Deadsec crew can recruit anyone you come across in this open world hacking RPG.

Yes, it’ll be available on PS5 launch day. The launch day version will still be based on Unreal Engine 4, but the move to Unreal Engine 5 is on the way. Enough said.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

The 2020 iteration of the ever-popular Call of Duty franchise coming out of Treyarch will be available on the PS5 on launch day too. The game features a great looking campaign as well as the usual addictive multiplayer we’ve become accustomed to over the series’ recent history.

There are more games you can expect on launch day for the PS5, including Dirt 5, Devil May Cry 5 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which means one thing is for sure – you’re not going to run out of things to play during the 2020 festive holidays if you pick up the PS5 on launch.
